Message from the Executive Director of Admissions and Financial Aid

Dear Students and Family Members,

I would like to take a moment to pause and reflect with you, our prospective students and families, about the events that have taken place in recent months. As a global community, we are experiencing fragile times that are testing our fortitude and resolve, and my thoughts are with those who have been directly affected by these catastrophic events.

I assure you that Caltech remains dedicated to inclusivity and rejecting hate speech such as what transpired in Charlottesville; the Institute actively supports the DACA program through actions, petitions and letters; and we deeply care for those students and families who have been affected by this year's major hurricanes, the earthquakes in Mexico, the fires in California, as well as the tragedy that occurred in Las Vegas. Caltech Undergraduate Admissions will make accommodations such as providing application fee waivers and accepting documents after the deadline so that your application process goes as smoothly as possible. We wish to minimize the barriers and challenges you may be facing so that you can continue to focus on your future.

For more than two decades, I have dedicated my career to supporting students through the college admissions process, and this is typically a time when students are both focused and excited about college. Sadly, this year is different for so many of us, and I realize that you may have other pressing priorities as you navigate your path to recovery and healing.

I encourage you to reach out directly to our office by email ( or by phone at (626) 395-6341 if there is anything we can do to assist you with preparing your application to Caltech. I wish you all the best in your college search process.
