As a small, research-intensive Institute, Caltech values the academic well-being of its students. In order to uphold the health, privacy, and safety of our academic community, our campus visit schedule for prospective undergraduate students is limited. Campus visit dates are published 1-3 months in advance.
Campus visits are designed for prospective undergraduate students who are current high school/secondary students or college students seeking to apply for admission. After two years of remote and self-guided tours, we are excited to welcome registered visitors on student-led campus tours once again! All visitors must register for a tour before arrival. Please carefully review the information on this page prior to your Caltech visit.
Pre-registration is required to attend a campus tour; walk-ins will not be accommodated.
Prospective students are able to register two additional guests for their campus tour. All visitors must follow health and safety policies listed below.
All campus buildings, including the Admissions Office, remain closed to the general public, with the exception of Hameetman Center. Visitors may visit the Caltech Store and Red Door Marketplace, located in the Hameetman Center, and must follow all posted guidelines upon entry. Caltech requires the use of well-fitting medical-grade masks by all individuals on campus when indoors. Please refrain from bringing pets along for the Tour; service animals are welcome.
Visitor Health and Safety Policies
All Admissions campus visitors must provide proof of full vaccination, following guidelines for Caltech students and employees. As of January 18, 2022, the Caltech vaccination requirement includes the booster shot, if eligible. Visitors who are not fully vaccinated, including those who have not yet received the booster, must present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the visit in order to attend a campus tour.
Visitors unable to provide either proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours will be turned away. This policy applies to all visitors, including those aged 5-12.
Visitors who are ill or experiencing COVID symptoms should not visit campus.
Proof of Vaccination
Acceptable proof of vaccination or COVID-19 testing:
- Official vaccination card including the booster shot
- Digital vaccination record issued by:
- California Department of Public Health (CDPH)
- An approved company (e.g. Healthvana, Carbon Health, CommonPass, CLEAR Health Pass, VaxYes)
- Paper record of a negative PCR test with the date/time being no greater than 72 hours prior to your visit
All visitors must wear a mask during their campus tour. Caltech buildings are closed to the public, including the Admissions Office. Visitors may visit the Caltech Store and Red Door Marketplace, located in the Hameetman Center, and must follow all posted guidelines upon entry. Caltech requires the use of well-fitting medical-grade masks by all individuals on campus when indoors.
Arrival and Check-In
Parking is available in the California and Holliston Parking Structures. Campus visitors may park in any commuter (unreserved) stall on campus with the purchase of a daily permit. The parking structures may be close to capacity and may require an additional 15 minute walk to our check-in location so please arrive to campus 30 minutes prior to the tour's start time. All tours begin promptly and late arrivals should check-in with an Admissions staff member for next steps.
Check-in will take place at the Admission Annex (directly behind the Admissions Office). Restrooms are available in the Annex before and after the tour. Registration will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the tour.
Once a visit date is at capacity, it is closed. Prospective students are encouraged to register for a Techer Talk webinar to learn about Caltech through the experiences of our current students.
Admitted students should contact their regional admissions officer for campus visit options.
