Study Abroad
Is global scholarship one of your goals? Caltech offers students opportunities to see different parts of the world while earning course credit. We want Techers to experience other cultures and become knowledgeable, creative, and active members of the society around them.
Caltech students have the opportunity to study abroad--or away--during their junior or senior year. Keep in mind that the first year of study is dedicated to the core curriculum, when you're laying the foundation of your studies. The second year is when you start into your major classes. So the timing makes sense, since you'll have the foundational knowledge that you need in STEM and in your field before you study elsewhere.
Study Abroad
The Fellowships Advising & Study Abroad (FASA) office offers six official opportunities for students in any discipline. Caltech students are eligible to apply for programs during their sophomore or junior years, to study abroad during their junior or senior years, respectively.
Copenhagen Scholars Program (Denmark)
École Polytechnique Scholars Program (Paris, France)--French proficiency required
Edinburgh Scholars Program (Scotland)
London Scholars Program (England)
Melbourne Scholars Program (Australia)
Study Away
Maybe you just want a change of scenery but don't want to leave the country. Caltech offers a unique Study Away exchange opportunity for a fall term with the University of Chicago. You'll get to take classes, live in the city, explore museums, and more! Study Away is a fall-only program, during junior or senior year.
