Caltech Active Transport Pass (ATP)
In biology, substances normally move through cell membranes according to the concentration gradient, from high concentration to low concentration. In order for a substance to move against the concentration gradient, the cell needs to use energy, usually in the form of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate). This is called active transport.
There are many reasons why students may face a concentration gradient when applying to college, and the application fee is one of them. As a result, we are introducing the Caltech Active Transport Pass (ATP!) to allow students to get through this initial barrier and submit an application without worrying about the cost. If you are applying for financial aid and the fee presents a financial hardship, you are eligible for the Caltech Active Transport Pass!
ATP was named and described by the illustrious Enoch Luk '25
